3M’s new sustainability goals

3M publishes 2021 Sustainability Report, offering a close look at how the challenges and changes of 2020 will strengthen commitment to sustainability.

During the remainder of 2021, advancing sustainability and positive impact will remain a core focus for 3M and will be publishing the following goals for achievements so far:

• Reduced manufacturing waste by 9.98%, toward goal of 10% reduction
• 42.9% of manufacturing sites had zero landfill waste, exceeding goal of 30%
• Increased renewable energy to 35.4% of total electricity use, toward goal of 50% 
• Scope 1 and 2 emissions were 71.1% below baseline, also ahead of goal of 50% below 2002 baseline
• Also invested $87.9M in total global giving
• Increased pipeline of diverse talent in management from 32.6% to 43.2%, toward goal of doubling the pipeline
