BIC publishes sustainability report

BIC has released its 2025 Sustainability Report, outlining continued progress across its environmental, social and governance goals as the company pushes ahead with its long-term “Writing the Future, Together” strategy.
The report details advances in climate action, sustainable product innovation, responsible sourcing and education initiatives, while reinforcing the company’s commitment to reducing its environmental footprint across its global operations.
BIC said the latest report reflects ongoing efforts to integrate sustainability into its core business model while continuing to deliver affordable everyday products in stationery, lighters and shavers. The company’s strategy includes targets to improve the environmental and social footprint of all BIC products, increase the use of recycled and alternative plastics, and expand renewable energy use across operations.
Among its previously announced ambitions, BIC aims to use 50% recycled or alternative plastic in products by 2030 and ensure all consumer plastic packaging is reusable, recyclable or compostable. The company has also committed to sourcing 100% renewable electricity and strengthening sustainability oversight within its supply chain.
The report also highlights BIC’s education programmes, which the company says have helped improve learning conditions for millions of children globally through partnerships with schools, teachers and communities.
Chief Executive Officer Gonzalve Bich said the company remains focused on balancing long-term business growth with responsible environmental and social practices. Earlier sustainability updates from the company pointed to significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and increased renewable energy usage across manufacturing sites.
