Burn calories by reading emails, says office manufacturer, Fellowes

We all strive to become more active, but what if you could burn calories just by answering emails? Well now, that might just become a reality.
According to Fellowes Brands, an innovator in the manufacture of office equipment and supplies, we are less active at work than ever before. Long hours sat at desks is damaging our health as much as cigarette smoking. But, while most of us struggle for time to exercise, Fellowes has come up with an ingenious way to “deskercise”. They’ve come up with 5 micro movements that could help burn more calories just by making small adjustments to your working day.
Some of these micro movements include standing at a desk, as opposed to sitting, which can increase your heartbeat by up to 10 beats per minute – the equivalent to 0.7 calories per minute, or 50 cals per hour. Sitting is ok, so even answering emails can burn up to 1.5 calories per minute. However, remembering to fidget and taking regular walk-breaks are some of the other measures Fellowes is recommending to readers in their latest blog. Read more here.
