Duracell’s child-safety feature successful breakthrough

Battery brand Duracell develops a new child safe feature to its lithium coin batteries to prevent swallowing.

Coin battery ingestions has risen over the past two decades and damage can occur just two hours from ingestion. Therefore, determined Duracell wanted to provide parents and caregivers of young children with an additional safety feature, including child-safe packaging.

However, Duracell Lithium Coin batteries (sizes 2032, 2025, and 2016) will now contain a transparent, non-toxic, bitter coating designed to help discourage swallowing.
