Fellowes focus on workplace wellness

Office equipment manufacturer, Fellowes, has released a new blog that highlights the hazards of working tired. It also gives some of the ways workers can reduce the effects of sleepiness at work.
Fellowes’ blog Sleep: An eye-opener when it comes to workplace productivity, says sleep deprivation costs U.S. employers $411 billion annually. This is due to lower productivity levels and a risk to overall health, which increased chances of employee sick days.
According to the blog, research by the RAND Corporation in 2016 said:
- 52% of workers indicated being easily distracted because of sleep deprivation
- 47% admit that they procrastinate more because of fatigue.
- 38% admit to being grumpier as a result of lack of sleep.
- 29% said they had fallen asleep or became very sleepy at work in the previous month, and
- 12% were late to work in the last month because of sleepiness.
Fellowes solutions for the sleep deprived include balancing deadlines with downtime. Turn off the TV or the computer and unwind. Fellowes also recommends tracking sleep to make sure you’re getting enough!
