Henkel unveils new 2030 sustainability targets

Henkel has announced a new set of sustainability targets for 2030, aimed at accelerating progress toward its goal of net-zero emissions by 2045.

The company plans to cut absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 42% and reduce Scope 3 emissions by 30%, using 2021 as a baseline. These efforts will be supported by increased energy efficiency, expanded use of renewable energy, and closer collaboration with suppliers.

Henkel also aims to strengthen its circular economy approach. By 2030, it plans for all packaging to be recyclable or reusable, while increasing the share of recycled plastic in consumer packaging to at least 35%.

In addition to environmental goals, the company has outlined new social targets. These include achieving balanced gender representation across management levels and ensuring global pay equity. Henkel also intends for the majority of its suppliers to meet defined sustainability standards.

The updated targets follow a review of earlier goals and are designed to be both ambitious and achievable. The company says sustainability will remain central to its long-term growth strategy as it responds to increasing environmental and social expectations.
