Sofidel’s Earth Hour partnership

Tissue manufacturer Sofidel renews its environmental promise by becoming main Earth Hour partner for another year.

In the event promoted by WWF Italy, Earth Hour sees the world’s lights dim down across major cities for one hour.

Earth Hour provides the symbolic gesture to unite citizens, institutions and businesses from hundreds of countries around the world. They share one common desire. This is to give the Earth a sustainable future as well as win the challenge of climate change.

This year, Earth Hour is particularly important. A WWF Italy report on pandemics reveals a relationship between the loss of nature and epidemics. They conclude that onging climate change is one of the main causes at the expense of biodiversity and therefore increases the risk of future health-related causes.

Sofidel has been working alongside WWF for over 10 years as part of the Climate Savers programme. In 2017, Sofidel renewed its commitment by signing the Manifesto “An S.O.S. (Safe Operating Space) for a sustainable future”, which outlined the long-term vision promoted by the environmental organisation.
